Description

Prescient Global Solutions, a service-disabled veteran owned small business, is seeking highly skilled, knowledgeable, and self-motivated American Sign Language Interpreters to support a government contract. Our ideal candidates will be dedicated to achieving and maintaining a high level of professionalism while remaining as unobtrusive as possible. 

The interpreter shall provide Video Remote (VRI) Sign Language Interpreting Services from American Sign Language (ASL) to English and English to ASL. 

Activities may include interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing employees in various meetings, discussions, trainings, conferences, and informal and formal events. 

Interpreter services may range from simple to complex and may be sensitive in nature. 

Our candidates will excel at working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while staying within the role of interpreter and will also possess the following skills: 

  • Strong listening, research, memory, and sign language skills. 
  • The ability to sign in many situations, including private meetings and one-on-one settings. 
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships. 
  • The ability to perform in a challenging, creative, and formal working environment. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. 
  • Knowledge of ethics and standards for interpreters. 
  • Able to work within a changing schedule as the need arises. 
  • Must possess well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with members from a variety of backgrounds. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships. 

 

Required Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Possess an active national certification (e.g., RID, NAD, BEI); and have a minimum of three years professional experience; and at least one of the three years of professional experience shall be in a professional office environment (e.g., government, legislative, accounting, finance, legal). 
  • OR Interpreters must have a minimum of 6 years of professional experience; and at least three of those years shall be in a professional office environment (e.g., government, legislative, accounting, finance, legal); and experience shall not include time when the interpreter was in training, mentoring, or fulfilling an internship requirement. 
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university with a major study in a field related to either interpretation or American Sign Language (ASL) studies is preferred. 
  • Fluent in American Sign Language and English. 
  • Experience interpreting remotely using video platforms. 
  • Must be able to interpret/transliterate fluently and understand the continuum of sign communication. 
  • Must be able to proficiently voice to sign as well as sign to voice. 
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills, both orally and written.
